Pastor Chris
coldwater CHURCH in Avondale, AZ                                                                                                             HOME

Chris and Leah Wotherspoon both grew up in Southern California.  They have been married over ten years and have three wonderful kids.  In February of 2008 they relocated from Moreno Valley, CA to Avondale, AZ ready for adventure and a new season.  The Lord has birthed in their hearts a desire to be a part of God’s redemptive work in the Phoenix metro area, especially the west valley, and specifically the rapidly changing city of Avondale.  Their home is in Coldwater Springs where they have been building community since their arrival in 2008.

Chris is a licensed and ordained minister in the Fellowship of Christian Assembly.  He was a youth pastor and assistant pastor for over a decade before embracing the joys of church planting.  He has a BA degree in Biblical Studies from Southwest Bible College and continues to enjoy reading books on theology and church development.  He also enjoys strategy games, social networking, and hanging out with his kids.  Chris is a bi-vocational pastor and spends part of his days counseling students at Grand Canyon University.  He enjoys networking and would love to get to know you, maybe at a local concert, D-Backs game, or the Avondale Yogurtland.

Leah serves the church by leading the Children’s ministry and helping Chris with the administrative details.  She also enjoys watching baseball and hanging out with her kids.  She likes clipping coupons, finding deals on craigslist, and creating things.  She loves watching movies, going to IKEA, and enjoying Starbucks coffee.  Leah is a licensed cosmetologist and is currently working towards and going to school to become an elementary school teacher.  Despite a busy schedule at home and at work, Leah makes time to volunteer at her kids’ school, connect with her neighbors, and have healthy relationships with family and friends.

Chris is passionate about seeing his generation come to know Jesus.  He believes planting new churches is the most effective way to evangelize North America (or maybe evangelizing is the most effective way to plant new churches). Either way, he is excited about what God is doing in the West Valley and in Metro Phoenix.  He loves this new adventure and is excited about stepping out and living the gospel in real ways with real people.
