We are praying for support. Please take a moment to read through this page and ask God if there’s any way that you can help. We are praying for you, and thank you for being here!

Why the name?

The name Coldwater Church comes from the verse “Good news is like cold water to a weary soul” (Proverbs 25:25). We want Coldwater to be a place where people don’t pretend, posture or perform, but rather a safe place where the grace of God can meet us in the messiness of life. We want the wounded, weary, and worn out to find rest in the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, who said, “Come to me all who are weary, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

OUR TESTIMONY

We first moved to Colorado from Texas at the beginning of 2023 to start a new church near Boulder. After spending some time in the area, we realized it wasn’t the best long-term fit for our family. The Lord began to close doors for ministry there, and then opened new doors for us to make a move and buy a home in Berthoud, Colorado. In His wisdom and providence, Berthoud has become a perfect fit for our family and ministry. We love the town, the people, the culture, the pace, the community-mindedness, and especially the notorious Rocky Mountains just 10 minutes away. We have lived here since July of 2024 with the hope of starting a new church that would advance the gospel here in the hard-to-reach Front Range of Colorado. In this region, 92% of the population do not attend a church, and as high as 83% do not affiliate with being a follower of Christ. Because of that, the need for the gospel is abundant and, quite honestly, overwhelming. Even if we planted 20 churches in Berthoud next year, it still wouldn’t be enough to reach 40% of the town’s population. And we are just hoping to start one. My (Justin’s) ministry background has been in Associate Pastor and Lead Pastor roles, and my education background includes a Master’s Degree in Leadership, a Master’s Degree in Theology, and two church planting residencies at The Village Church and with Redeemer Network. Together, Cherish and I have led ministries for over a decade in a variety of ministry settings and churches. She is incredibly gifted in leadership, hospitality, mercy, and overseeing the back end ministry operations. We share a huge heart for reaching the lost, weary, wounded, and worn out with the Gospel of Jesus Christ that promises rest. Our four kids are 20, 10, 8, and 4 years old, and all eager to start Coldwater Church together as a family.

Why Berthoud?

Berthoud, Colorado

  • We have lived here since July of 2024, and we love it.

  • Berthoud is the 3rd fastest growing city in Colorado in 2025 (source)

  • Berthoud is going to double in population by 2040

  • 92% of the population are not attending a church

  • 83% do not identify with following Christ

  • There are only a handful of churches in town, and only a couple of them are actively growing

  • Our vision for a new church is unique to the town, and our ministry will reach into an unreached demographic

  • The majority of growth in the town is ages 30 - 50 with kids, which is the age group we will identify with most

  • Given Berthoud’s projected growth, a new church can become an anchor institution in the town — helping shape community values for generations to come.

Vision: to become a resting place for the weary

Mission: to love God, love people, and make disciples

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
