More about us

  • LOVE GOD. LOVE PEOPLE. MAKE DISCIPLES.

    Matthew 27:37-39
    Matthew 28:18–20

  • The name Coldwater comes from two places. First, in Proverbs 25:25 it says, “Good news is like cold water for the weary,” and we all know Colorado is a place of cold water, so our vision is to be a place:

Where weary hearts become alive in Christ and advance His Kingdom!

    Proverbs 25:25
    1 Thes 1:5
    Matthew 11:28

  • Core Values - our LIFE code.

L - Let the Word of God Loose

We believe the Word of God is living and active, so we teach and preach verse by verse through books of the Bible so that people can hear from God directly, come to faith, trust Him, and know the Bible for themselves.”

Acts 6:7 “And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly…”

I - In Community, not Isolation

We believe we cannot become healthy followers of Christ as lone wolves on a solo journey, but rather, we all need a place in God’s family where we can be fully known and fully loved in the safety, grace + truth of the Gospel.

Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together… but encouraging one another.”

F - Filled + Formed by the Spirit

We believe the Spirit of God is fully alive and active today just as He’s described in Scripture, so we expect God to lead His church with the fullness of His presence in Christlike transformation and supernatural manifestation.

Ephesians 5:17, 1 Corinthians 12:7, “Be filled with the Spirit,” and “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.”

E - Equipped + Empowered for the Mission

We believe the outcome of a healthy church should be disciples of all ages and stages who know their place in God’s redemptive story, how they’ve been equipped for the work of ministry, and sent out to advance the Gospel.

Acts 1:8, Ephesians 4:12, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you to go and be my witnesses,” and “to equip the saints for the work of ministry.”

  • We believe God is Triune (Father, Son, & Spirit)

We believe the Bible is Authority

We believe the Gospel is Central

We believe in the Spiritual Gifts

We believe in the Great Commandment

We believe in the Great Commission

    We believe in being non-denominational, multi-generational, + multi-ethnic

We believe in salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, for God’s glory alone.

We believe God is redeeming and restoring all things - humanity and creation - to Himself, and we all have a place in God’s Story

Theological Distinctives:

Plurality of Elders

We believe Jesus shepherds His church through a team of qualified elders who share responsibility for teaching, prayer, oversight, and care. A plurality protects humility, guards doctrine, strengthens accountability, and reflects the New Testament pattern of shared leadership under Christ, the Chief Shepherd.

Acts 14:23; Acts 20:28; Titus 1:5; 1 Peter 5:1–3; Hebrews 13:17

Expository Preaching

We preach verse by verse through books of the Bible, aiming to explain the meaning of the text in its context and apply it faithfully to life in a relevant and passionate way. The authority of the sermon comes from God’s Word, not the preacher’s creativity. We trust Scripture to form and transform us through the faithful preaching of what it says and the Holy Spirit’s power.

Nehemiah 8:8; 2 Timothy 4:1–2; Acts 20:27; 1 Timothy 4:13; Hebrews 4:12

Deep + Wide

We are committed to depth in discipleship and width in mission. We pursue theological depth, spiritual maturity, and serious formation in Christ, while also extending wide Gospel invitation to our city and world. Healthy churches grow both downward in roots and outward in reach.

Colossians 1:28; Ephesians 3:17–19; Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 1:8; Psalm 1:3

Word + Spirit

We are a Word-driven and Spirit-dependent church. The Spirit works through the written Word to convict, empower, and transform God’s people. We refuse to separate what God has joined: Scripture as our authority and the Holy Spirit as our power for worship, mission, and obedience.

John 4:24; John 16:13; 2 Timothy 3:16–17; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 6:17

Complementarian

We believe men and women are equal in value, dignity, and worth before God, yet entrusted with distinct roles in the home and church according to Scripture. In the church, the office of Elder is reserved for spiritually qualified men, while women are empowered to fully exercise their gifts as pastors, leaders, teachers, and ministers, all for the glory of God and the good of the church under the spiritual oversight of called and qualified Eldership.

Genesis 1:27; 1 Timothy 2:12–13; 1 Timothy 3:1–7; Titus 2:3–5; Galatians 3:28

Continuationist

We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit described in the New Testament continue today. Spiritual gifts are given for the building up of the church and the advance of the Gospel. All gifts must operate under biblical authority, spiritual maturity, and loving order.

1 Corinthians 12:4–7; 1 Corinthians 14:1; 1 Corinthians 14:26; Romans 12:6–8; Ephesians 4:11–13

Gospel-Centrality

The Gospel is not Christianity’s ABCs; it’s Christianity’s A through Z. We never graduate from the Gospel. Every sermon, sacrament, song, baptism, ministry, and every act of obedience flows from His finished work. If it’s not about Christ, it’s not the Center.
